Wednesday, August 10, 2011 - To Medicine Hat, Canada

The weather has  really been nice - thankfully and the scenery w/the mountains, lakes, etc. etc. look so much nicer w/o raindrops on the windshield.  The last time we traveled this route, we had nothing but rain and more rain.  Going back through Calgary was on our route home so this enabled us to stop and have lunch with Rosie and Paul - more friends from Mesa.  I play tennis w/Rosie - great player and Paul will be my coach this coming year.  I guess I'll have to be  nice to him so he doesn't demote me before I even start.  Great people and we really appreciated them taking time to meet us near the Olympic Park and having lunch w/us - thanks so much!!

We are traveling through farm country and the beginning of oil country.  Large herds of cattle as well as horses.  Their trains here in Canada are the longest we've ever seen.  Most times, they have two engines in the front, two in the middle and one or two in the back.

Our next stop was Medicine Hat and a great place for us to stop as we got a chance to see another friend, Linda Stolz.  She was one of my coaches last year - top notch player as well.  She was so kind as to meet us at our campground and drive us to her condo for dinner.  There is no way we would have found it as the town really has crazy streets and some under construction.  Unfortunately, Howard, her husband, was out of town, so we missed seeing him but we'll see in Mesa for sure.  Thanks Linda for a lovely evening - of course, tennis was brought up a couple times.

Cheer's Linda!!  To another good year of tennis!!
