Friday, June 10, 2011 Hill Springs, Alberta

Left on tour bus at 8:30 and went to the Remington Carriage Museum in Cardston, AB.  It is the World’s Largest Carriage Museum housing over 250 horse-drawn carriages, wagons and sleighs.  We had a guided tour, carriage ride, and a short movie. The restored carriages were beautiful. Left the Museum and were driven to the Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump.  This museum tells the story of how Indians organized the sophisticated communal buffalo hunt as a means to gather food for their survival.  (Basically, running a herd of buffalo, 300 plus, over a cliff).  They then skinned them and used every part of their bodies for food, clothing, tools, etc.   We were there about 3 hours getting a guided tour, brief movie, and viewing the exhibits and cliff. Back at the Park , we had a travel briefing and social hour. At 6 we went to the barn for the Great Canadian Barn Dance dinner show. It was a family style dinner and show.  Very good. They put on a 2 hour country western  show. One son was 20yrs. Old and had exceptional talent. The show was very entertaining. The RV next to us has a flat and has to limp to Fort Macleod, AB in the morning.
