We started out the day meeting our friends, Luann and Dana for breakfast at the Amsterdam Cafe. We had more fun talking and getting to know each other better.
Notice all the Beer Tap Handles. Needless to say, Bruce had beer. Luann and I opted for a Mimosa.
After breakfast we returned to join our group for a city tour. Anchorage is just loaded w/flowers everywhere. They are huge and healthy plants - like the cool weather I guess.
Hanging plants galore!!
Toured the Ulu (Knife) Factory and,of course, gift shop. These knives are a big thing in Alaska.
The airport is loaded w/privately owned planes. Those used for landing on ground as well as seaplanes. They joke that as many people own planes as they do cars and if you looked in the air, you might agree.
I think it is so cool to see the seaplanes parked in the water - like small canals.
We then went across the airport to where the seaplanes take off and land. So much fun watching them take off and land.
Daisie's blowing in the wind. I told you, flowers everywhere.
Enjoyed a dinner and film of Alaska at the Alaska Wildberry Park. Fun place to walk around.
A trainer talked w/us about caring for this White Owl. The owl was injured so they took her in, fixed her up
and will eventually let her go. She was very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time w/us. She said she wasn't attached to the owl but the owl might have other thoughts - look at her face.
They also had Rheindeer that we could feed and pet.
This will probably be the only bear I actually get to hug.
A lot of the floral arrangements throughout the country are yellow and blue - colors of Alaska's State Flag.
