Saturday, July 9, 2011 Anchorage, Alaska

On our drive from Denali to Anchorage, the countryside is covered w/beautiful flowers.  These particular flowers are Lupin.

We stopped at Mary's McKinley Lodge Cafe for lunch w/our traveling group, Ron, Jackie, Lyn and Dave.  It is amazing all that is done w/wood such as this bar.  The food was very good.

Getting closer to Wasella, we saw more mountains.  Yes, still snow capped.

Crossing the road was a Mamma Moose and her calf.  The calf got scared and opted not to cross the road.  Always so exciting to see wildlife.

We had made arrangements w/a couple we had met in Mesa, Arizona (fellow tennis players) to get together
Luann & Dana
once we arrived in their fair city.  After many e-mails,tonight worked out for both of us so they picked us up and took us to Moose's Tooth for excellent pizza and beer.  We ended up spending a good amount of time w/them and can now say we've become friends.  They were so gracious to drive us around and give us ideas as to things to do and places to go.

Isn't she cute???
While driving around, we were met by these two friendly animals.  They stood by the side of the road and allowed us to take pictures.  Of course, Mom, was being very protective.
