Another cool but sunny day, but we're happy not to have any rain for a couple days.
We started the day touring the Native Heritage Center.
The young people talked about their lives and how they are trying to maitain traditional values. They demonstrated some athletic moves that are used in
competitions. Extremely challenging!!!
He starts out holding one foot and resting on one hand.
Then he kicks up to hit the stuffed object hanging from the string. Very impressive!!!
A lot of dancing was demonstrated.
Buildings that the Native's lived and worked in.
A few artifacts displayed in the buildings.
4 month old Huskie puppies that are being trained to be racers. Oh so cute!!
Already a sled dog and ready to run.
Can't believe the heighth of this Totem Pole.
We went back downtown to just walk around and
enjoy more floral arrangements. Of course, we did check out some stores.
The statue of this sled dog represents the beginning of the Iditarod Dog Race.
Tonight we went to the Tap Root to see a very funny comedian. The entire show is done w/music and tells all his jokes in song. Trust me, he doesn't leave anyone out especially Sarah Palin and how she can see Russia from her house. He also had a native Chicagoan performer that did skits as Oprah, and Pres. Obama - hysterical.
Another fun but busy day. Now have to arrange the RV to head to Homer, Alaska tomorrow.
