The view from our RV of a freighter taking off from Homer

Our group ready to get on the boat.
It is another cool but sunny day.  We want a lot of sun since our big excursion for the day is Halibut Fishing in the Cook Inlet.  Everyone we talked to that went fishing in this area kept telling us how choppy the waves could be and how many people got sick, etc. etc. so with that in mind, Roni, especially, starting pumping the drugs.  By the time we got on the boat, I felt no pain and could do 12' waves (just kidding).

We were happy to see the boat was bigger than a dingy.  There is a lot of water out there.
I'm was glad to see this boat wasn't any smaller.

Met a couple gals that were having a great time w/o their husbands.

We travelled for two hours before the anchors were dropped.  Met some nice people.  These gals were a stitch and having a great time.
Friends on another boat.

Part of our Caravan group took the all day fishing trip; however, they ended up next to us as the fish were hiding where they originally anchored.  We were so happy we opted for the l/2 day trip.  They ended up w/as much as we did but it took them twice as long.
Nobody said this would be work!!

We no sooner dropped our lines when we hooked a fish.  I was hoping to just stand there and enjoy the sights, but no such luck. I got three fish in no time at all.  Took longer to bring them up.  Our limit was two fish per person - anymore than that, got thrown back in.
Aha!!!  Finally I see the fish.
You can see the fish at the surface - finally.  Our lines went down about 250' so that was a lot of reeling.

Whew!!!  that was a lot of work.

The deck hands were great.  They put the bait on the hooks and took the fish off - thank goodness.  We each had a different color band so that they knew which fish belonged to which person.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one holding on for dear life.

Bruce is hard at work.  See his pole bending.
I get to do this again - yeah!!!

We all got about the same size - 15 to 20 lbs.
I can't raise them higher!!

I'm holding both my fish, but one turned sideways and I couldn't hold them any longer.  Notice all the fish on the floor.  The crew cleaned them and once we got back to shore, we had them fileted and individually packed.  They freeze and ship them if that is what people want done.  Since we have the RV, we can freeze them ourselves.  We did leave some in the refrigerator and will donate them towards the fish fry on Friday.
Patti fixed a couple filets for us.

Pattie made a meal for us using our Halibut.  Very good.  She baked them in a creamy dill sauce and yes, I actually ate them.
I actually ate fish - don't tell anybody but it was good!!

The day turned out great - no one got stick or fell overboard so a good time was had by all.  We had Happy Hour and shared our "Big Fish that got away" stories - all lies.   Now what do we do tomorrow??
