Saturday, June 18, 2011 Chetwynd, BC

BC Left Prince George around 8:30 following Dave & Lynn and Ron & Jackie. Got fuel before leaving town. Roni drove the whole day – 248 miles. We stopped at one waterfall and then the town of Chetwynd the chainsaw carving capital. We ate a quick lunch at an A&W. Roni got her favorite root beer float. At 1:30 we were given a tour of the carved figures around the visitor center area. They are unbelievable.  Every year, 12 artists from around the world are invited to compete, they are judged but all the sculptures stay in town.  They had 120 of them displayed.   Stayed in town until about 2:45 then onto Dawson Creek. Got there at 4PM. After set up   we were all given an interesting presentation by a lady named Keltie about Dawson Creek. We had a quick supper then took Chris and Mary into town to Notre Dame Church. The priest was from Africa possibly and a bit hard to understand. Afterward we went to an Irish pub for a drink where we ran into Ron and Dave and wives. Had a good time chatting. Got back after 10.

Jackie and Ron have 3 dogs so when I get a chance I take Buddy for a run.  Cool dog.

These are just a few of the wooden creations.  Very talented people.
