Tuesday, July 5,2011 North Pole, Alaska

We slept a little later today as it was a free day. Did some RV maintenance before leaving for the North Pole.  The North Pole is a small town about 17 miles south of Fairbanks. There we mailed some cards, visited the Santa Claus House, and bought a couple small gifts. When we returned to Fairbanks we stopped at the Pioneer Park and walked around there. Didn’t find much to do there. Got some groceries on the way back to the RV. We played bean bag toss at happy hour with Ron and Cindy. After dinner a large group of us sat down by the river and had wine until 10 PM. Some ducks came by and we fed them crackers.  Time to pack up again as we head out to Denalli National Park tomorrow for three days.

You will notice that all the names of churches, stores, hotels, etc. are named with the Christmas theme.

All the lights are wrapped like candy canes.

This is a real Santa - very country - no red suit.

This is a park where they have a lot of group activities - mostly for children.  Yesterday, on the 4th, they had a huge party.
