Tuesday, June 21, 2011 Liard Springs, AB

Woke up to rain again. The campground is messy. We left Fort Nelson about 8:30 in rain. Rain continued most all day which spoiled one of the most scenic stretches of highway. I had a car pass us that kicked up a small pebble and put a chip in the windshield. We took few pictures on our route to Liard River Hot Springs Campground. We tagged up with Dave and Ron and we led the way today. Our first stop was at Tetsa River Campground for large, warm, cinnamon rolls. They were quite good. We bought a couple extra for tomorrow but sold them back to others as the place ran out of buns. When we got by Muncho Lake there were numerous small rocks toppled down in the roadway that we had to avoid. We did see a moose, several bison, and just before the campground three black bear. We had one bear come up to the RV within feet looking for a handout. At the campground we went to the hot springs. The water was very warm and a lot of people there.  The water actually kept getting hotter and hotter – had to finally get out as I was starting to feel  quezzy. For dinner we went to Gil & Jenna’s where he grilled. Several couples joined us and had a good time. Sat around a campfire until after 9:30 and it was still light out. At 10:30 PM it’s quite light out.

Every store or restaurant has a gimick to bring you in.  This place had hundreds of caps on the ceiling.

Beautiful sights along the way - rivers, lakes, mountains, etc.

This is the way many people get around - seaplanes.

So excited to see the bears.  I think I took 50 pictures.

This little guy kept coming towards the RV.  I think if I had opened the door, he would have walked right in.  I didn't see his Mama so hopefully he wasn't abandoned.

Didn't see as many Bison as we thought we would but you never know where they will pop up.

Bunch of real beauties in the hot springs, but it sure felt good.  The water kept getting hotter and hotter - had to finally get out.  Felt a little woozie afterwards so we were glad we didn't stay in too long.
